A Review of Wettability Alteration by Spontaneous Imbibition Using Low-Salinity Water in Naturally Fractured Reservoirs

چکیده

Analysis of fluid flow in naturally fractured reservoirs (NFRs), as a highly heterogeneous and complex system, requires detailed study the fracture-matrix interactions. The main process movement between fracture matrix is spontaneous imbibition (SI), which can occur co/countercurrent states. In addition, most carbonate rocks are non-water-wet, lead to low oil recovery. Wettability greatly affects performance SI process. Injection water or chemicals be insufficient because fluids mostly pass through permeable fractures early breakthrough. Therefore, wettability alteration mechanism should applied NFRs, low-salinity (LSW) injection considered an effective enhanced recovery (EOR) approach. this review, experimental numerical studies co/counter-imbibition analyzed show importance investigating review shows effect on rocks. LSW carbonates possibilities for implementing EOR method. However, during using has not yet been studied, no simulation models flows have provided. Based more recommended duplicate LSW. Advanced techniques such CT scanning, MRI, NTI used reveal distribution. Using data, developed characterize dynamic imbibition.

Wettability Alteration of Sandstone and Carbonate Rocks by Using ZnO Nanoparticles in Heavy Oil Reservoirs

Efforts to enhance oil recovery through wettability alteration by nanoparticles have been attracted in recent years. However, many basic questions have been ambiguous up until now. Nanoparticles penetrate into pore volume of porous media, stick on the core surface, and by creating homogeneous water-wet area, cause to alter wettability. This work introduces the new concept of adding ZnO nanopart...

Coupling Geomechanics and Transport in Naturally Fractured Reservoirs

Large amounts of hydrocarbon reserves are trapped in naturally fractured reservoirs which arechallenging in terms of accurate recovery prediction because of their joint fabric complexity andlithological heterogeneity. Canada, for example, has over 400 billion barrels of crude oil in fracturedcarbonates in Alberta, most of this being bitumen of viscosity greater than 106 cP in the GrosmontFormat...

Unsteady-State Behavior of Naturally Fractured Reservoirs

A simplified model was employed to develop mathematically equations that describe the unsteadystate behavior of naturally fractured reservoirs, The analysis resulted in an equation of flow of radial symmetry whose solution, for the infinite case, is identical in form and function to that describing the unsteady-state behavior of homogeneous reservoirs. Accepting the assumed model, for all pract...

Hydraulic Fracturing of Naturally Fractured Reservoirs

A carefully engineered stimulation that makes use of opening mode fractures is an effective way to reduce injection and production impedance and provide better access for the fluid to enter and promote shearing in the main reservoir volume. We present results from field experiments that mapped the fracture geometry for opening mode hydraulic fractures formed in naturally fractured crystalline r...
